Torque, the
Triad’s first Tribal Fusion belly dance troupe, was created in January 2007
as an outlet for their growing creativity as students of belly dance at
Studio 318 in Greensboro, NC by founding members:
Donda left the group in June 2009 to move to San Jose. She was with Torque
for approximately 2 years. She still works with Torque as graphic design and advertising consultant. We
really miss her!
Xavier, a founding member of Torque, withdrew from the group in November 2009
so that he could focus on his first love, Egyptian Cabaret, AND to pursue a degree. He plans to dance with Torque, when time permits, as a guest performer. We are happy that he is growing and is still with us!
Torque specializes in a style of Tribal Fusion that stretches the boundaries
of traditional belly dance through experimental choreography, eclectic musical
selections, and original costuming innovations. While members emerge from
a variety of dance backgrounds, they are united by a passion for belly dance,
dedication to expression and creativity, and enjoyment of performing for
the public.
